The Art of Impactful Teaching – Crafting Meaningful Learning Experiences
Join us in Kumamoto for the 10th Sojo University Teaching and Learning Forum (SUTLF) as we celebrate a decade of collaboration, innovation, and excellence in English education. This year’s theme, “The Art of Impactful Teaching: Crafting Meaningful Learning Experiences,” invites educators to reflect on the practices that truly resonate with learners and inspire lasting growth.
Whether you're a seasoned teacher or just beginning your journey, this milestone conference offers a space to share ideas, explore new strategies, and connect with passionate colleagues across Japan. Let’s honor our past, shape our future, and continue to elevate the art of teaching together.
More details to come soon. If you have any ideas or want to volunteer, email us at sutlfteam@nankyujalt.org

Unplenary Event: Collaborative Conversations on Impactful Teaching
Celebrating a decade of collaboration, innovation, and excellence in English education at SUTLF, we are inviting YOU to help create a unique plenary session that truly resonates and inspires lasting growth.
This year, our three-part Unpleanry Experience is designed to spark ideas and share practices that can make a difference in your classroom.
Morning Session: Participants will self-organize into small-groups to discuss the topics that we have collected from all attendees in advance (below).
Poster Session: Notes from the morning session will be on display alongside posters, where you can explore collective findings and innovative approaches from other groups.
Closing Discussion: Wrap up key takeaways before the networking dinner.
We hope to facilitate small group discussions in the morning session aimed at tackling real-world teaching challenges and/or exploring research avenues, so consider providing questions, topics, and keywords suitable for guiding these discussions in the registration form.
We look forward to your insights and participation!
IoT Tour
We will have a tour of the IoT center at Sojo University, where you can see our video studio, 3D projector mapping, and other cool technology. SUTLF would like to thank the Sojo University IoT AI Center and Professor Naitoh for hosting the afternoon workshop.
Schedule of Sessions
Coming January 2026
These posters are separate from the vetted Friday poster session. Anyone can bring their poster on Thursday. If you submitted an abstract, that poster will be presented on Friday. Feel free to present the same poster twice (in mini form, Thursday).
Bring Your Own Poster - This event aims to spur conversations before the conference in an informal setting. Everyone, whether a presenter or not, is invited to bring an A4 or A3-sized poster to spark conversations. This is a way to share ideas in an easy and fun way. The event will include beverages and appetizers to go along with the great hospitality of our NanKyu members.
